Kuala Lumpur, 22 May 2017 – On the 13th May 2017, National Malaria Day 2017 themed “Banteras Malaria Demi Kesejahteraan Sejagat”, which means to eliminate malaria for the good of the people that was officiate by the Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam held at Dewan Putra, Felda Palong Timur, Segamat Johor.
The key intention of the day is:
• to raise awareness about malaria to achieve Malaria-free status by 2020
• to strengthen the collaboration between the agencies in the fight against malaria
The guests of honor for the event, Dr. Chong Chee Kheong, Director of Disease Control Division, Ministry of Health and Dr. Rooshaimi Merican A Rahim Merican, Director of Johor State Health Department are being given special privileges for the main direct involvement in the eradication of the mosquito.
Bayer was the only invited chemical company to have participated with an exhibition booth during this National Malaria Day 2017. Bayer 360◦ Vector Control approach was introduced by the team to control mosquito vector-borne diseases. We also educate the audiences on our ongoing efforts and key partnership with the Institute for Medical Research (IMR) about the trial activities of targeted residual spray (TRS) with the using of K-Othrine Polyzone to control the population of Aedes mosquito.
A concerted effort of the community and collaboration between the Ministry of Health and relevant agencies are necessary in making Malaysia free from malaria disease by 2020.
